Gallery G, a new art gallery at 757 N. Milwaukee Ave. in downtown Libertyville, makes its debut from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 6 during Libertyville First Fridays. “It has been a dream of mine to open a gallery to showcase my own work and that of other artists in the northern suburbs,” owner Ginny Krueger said in a news release. Krueger worked as an occupational therapist for 47 years and earned a Master of Fine Arts from Northern Illinois University in 1994. She has worked in many artistic mediums, including watercolor, encaustic and ceramics. The gallery’s first exhibition, titled “at first glance in love with France,” features bright, colorful watercolors Krueger painted during a recent residency near Aix-en-Provence in southern France.“I like to think that the greats of the Impressionist period were cheering me on while I was in their territory,” she said. “Despite the heat wave, and probably because of the light waves, I created a prolific body of work: landscapes and still life paintings.
