Rock River Garden Club donates $15,000 to Dixon in Bloom to support petunia baskets — Glen Ellyn Community news

Rock River Garden Club members have donated $15,000 from their annual June fundraiser, Bloomin’ on the Rock, to Dixon in Bloom, the organization responsible for the petunia baskets. The donation covers almost half of the cost to bring the beloved petunia baskets to Dixon each year, according to a news release. Garden Club members also volunteer many hours in the spring, planting and caring for the baskets while they are in the greenhouse. The cost to fill, maintain and house the baskets is funded entirely by donations. The faithful basket waterers throughout the summer and those putting up and taking down the baskets are provided by the city of Dixon. To make a donation to Dixon in Bloom, send to P.O. Box 127, Dixon, IL 61021, to support next year’s baskets; the flowers have already been ordered. Both groups are grateful to all of their supporters, according to the release.
